With the summer school holidays upon us, village families are again on the lookout for things to do locally – especially those with younger children.
The good news is that Ruddington has plenty to offer kids who’ll be staying close to home during some or all of the coming weeks.
Whilst ‘Ruddington Fun’ called it a day in 2018, in terms of organising its own programme of children’s activities, founder Barbara Breakwell has continued to maintain its popular Facebook page to share news about all manner of events and initiatives organised by others. In fact, this year, she’s gone a stage further.
“Due to lots of people asking, I’ve compiled a diary” says Barbara. “It lists the activities going on in our village during the summer school holidays. It has things for babies and toddlers – AND more mature residents as well.”
These include events at Parker’s Yard, The Village Museum, Ruddington Library, The Craft Workshop, The Green, Balmore Country House Care Home and Rushcliffe Country Park.
Barbara reveals she is also briefly coming out of ‘retirement’ herself for one of these events: “With the support of Ruddington Parish Council I am doing a FREE play session on Monday August 7th 2-4pm in St Peter’s Rooms.”
